FAQ’s

How do I find you?
The Model Village is situated on the High Street in Godshill. This is the A3020 Newport to Shanklin road. We are the big white house on the corner of the High Street.

Where can I park?
Godshill has a free council run car park opposite the Griffin Pub.  If you do park in the Old Smithy Car Park please ensure you check the locking up time on the gate and do make sure you pop in to their lovely shops too!  For Sat Nav the postcode is PO38 3HZ

How much is it to get in?
See Prices.

What time do you open/close?
We open at 10am every day.  Our closing times change from 4pm to 6pm depending on the time of year – just double check under the Opening Hours section.

Can I bring my dog?
We love to see well behaved dogs and their owners.  We just ask that you keep your dog on a short lead and clear up if necessary.  Bins are provided around the garden.  Doggie water can be found by the Nammet Hut and near the exit from the garden.  As you know not everyone likes dogs so we ask you to be respectful of other visitors.

Can we have a picnic in the garden?
Yes, on our designated picnic area. This is the large lawn just past the children’s photo area. We do have a few blankets to lend out if you forget a picnic rug.

Do you allow re-entry?
Your admission ticket is valid for 7 days as long as you have it validated at the Entrance Kiosk.  You will need to sign the ticket and will then be asked to re-sign on the reverse when you return.  You may be asked for follow up ID.

Is it wheelchair friendly?
Absolutely.  The surfaces are hard surfaces or compacted material with no steep gradients… but please look out for the hidden speed cameras on the way round!

Do you have a baby change facility?
Yes this is provided in the disabled loo, which is large enough for a wheelchair or pushchair.

Who owns it?
The Model Village is privately owned by Stuart & Penny Dyer and has been in our family for 35 years.

How long will it take to walk round?
It usually takes about 45 minutes. This will of course depend on how fast you walk & how much detail you take in.   A family with our quiz sheet and trying to count all the tiny squirrels can take an hour and a half!   If you stay for a cup of tea or an ice cream and then wander around again you could easily spend a couple of hours here.

Do you have toilets?
Yes, with disabled and baby change facilities.

Can children go into the Model Village alone?
A responsible adult must always accompany children (3 t0 16 years). This is one rule that we never make exceptions to – we are sure you will understand why.

Can I take photographs?
As many as you like and if you get a good one we’d love to see a copy.  Email it to info@modelvillagegodshill.co.uk or sent it on our Facebook page.
