Azalea
This Azalea is nearly 30 years old and has survived many small feet venturing behind the cottages for a closer look.

This is the only Azalea in the garden that is pruned this way, we have many others that are left to their own devices.

As a late flowering variety it flowers between our Spring bedding and Summer bedding plants providing good interest.

Fred’s tip – "I clear off most of the dead heads after flowering, allowing light back into the foliage. The blossom is that dense I prune in late July and again in August so as not to stress it too much."
